Program Overview

The CECEE Computer Literacy Program equips students in grades 3–8 with essential digital skills needed for academic success, future careers, and responsible technology use. The program combines foundational computer skills with AI fundamentals and robotics basics, ensuring students are not just users of technology—but early problem solvers and innovators.

This program directly addresses the digital divide by providing structured, hands-on learning in a supportive environment.

Who This Program Is For
  • Students in grades 3–8

  • Beginners or students with limited computer access

  • Youth interested in STEM, technology, or future tech careers

  • No prior computer experience required

What Students Will Learn

Students will gain age-appropriate, hands-on instruction in:

Core Computer Literacy
  • Computer hardware and basic operating systems

  • Keyboarding, mouse skills, and file management

  • Internet navigation and online safety

  • Email fundamentals and digital communication

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint basics

  • Introduction to Google Workspace tools

AI Fundamentals
  • What artificial intelligence is and how it works

  • Real-world examples of AI (voice assistants, recommendation systems)

  • Ethical and responsible use of AI

  • Understanding data, patterns, and simple algorithms

Robotics Basics
  • Introduction to robotics concepts

  • Simple programming and logical sequencing

  • Hands-on activities using beginner robotics kits

  • Team-based problem solving and creativity

Program Schedule
Summer Program
  • Days: Monday – Thursday

  • Frequency: 4 days per week

  • Duration: 3 hours per day

  • Format: In-person, structured STEM learning

School-Year Program
  • Days: Monday – Thursday

  • Frequency: After-school program

  • Duration: 2 hours per day

  • Small group instruction for individualized support
